Boro made their seasonal visit to the Lister Hospital on Wednesday calling on the Bluebell Ward and the Children’s A&E Department.  Armed with gift wrapped presents for the children and generous amounts of Papa John’s Pizza’s for patients, parents and staff.

The annual visit organised by the Supporters Association and supported by the club and staff was its usual enjoyable experience for patients and club personnel alike.

Jacky Berners & Jenny Dowden from the SA commented on what has become a well oiled operation that starts some weeks prior to the event. “A shopping spree buying presents is closely followed with several gift wrapping sessions that take a few evenings to complete, but it’s so worthwhile and why we love doing it”.

While this is happening the logistics for supplying additional items and organising the team to arrive on schedule is taking place.  Boro’s Commercial Manager Clive Abrey arranged the food, Club Shop Manager Dom Steer delivered the Boro’ goody bags while Chris Day rallied the squad.

On behalf of The Lister Claire Hickey liaises with Graham Westley for a suitable date while Kevin Coleman dusted off his camera one more time to record the occasion.

Spending over an hour in the two children’s wards the ever popular Boro’ Bear was in his element and since his wash and brush up in the summer he looked particularly smart doing the rounds. Chris Day and skipper Jon Ashton arrived supported by Steve Arnold, Jordan Burrow, David Gray, Peter Hartley, Simon Heslop, Greg Tansey, Oumare Tounkara and Sam Wedgbury.

Jacky & Jenny would like to express their thanks to everyone involved  and also to nurse Joanna Sinnott who was so helpful while the club were on the premises.
